This resource was developed by the Ontario Hospital Association to help Boards of Directors of health care institutions in Ontario meet their obligations for patient and family engagement under the Excellent Care for All Act (2010). This section of the toolkit addresses four key areas: a framework and principles for patient and family engagement; declaration of values; bringing patient experiences to the board; and patient relations self-assessment tool for organizations. This is a good resource for helping Board members understand their responsibilities for patient and family engagement. The patient relations self-assessment tool also helps Board members assess how well their organization measures up on three levels of engagement practice, from fundamental to advanced to expert.
